Recently, I requested Mr Hubby to bring me visit a newly operated Indian restaurant which located inside the Borneo Suites Hotel for late lunch after work.
The restaurant offers a comfortable, air-conditioned ambiance, and the friendly boss was actively engaging with diners, which added a warm and personal touch.
We ordered…
🍤 Chennai prawn satti sorru
☕️ Fresh milk bru coffee
🍴 Banana leaf rice set (I requested for parboiled rice for extra charge)
🍋 Iced lemon with salted plums
The standout dish for me was the Indian clay pot rice—an enjoyment of heat and spices, with an unique smoky and earthy undertone from the claypot cooking.
I was instantly hooked! Another highlight was their fresh milk Bru coffee, fresh milk added and balance the bold taste of coffee hence making it smooth, also affordable.
The parboiled rice was slightly chewy texture, clumped together, and carried a subtle hint of nuttiness. The curry and dhal were mildly spiced, easy to enjoy.
Another standout for me was the mango chutney, a new and refreshing addition to the meal. Overall, the experience was decent, just simple meals.
After finishing the banana leaf rice set, I was delighted to be served a freshly made mini cup of masala tea—it was absolutely delicious and the perfect end to the meal!
However, I hope the service crews could be more welcoming, as they seemed unapproachable. A simple smile would really elevate the dining experience.
While paying, I noticed they had piping hot deep-fried vadai and other Indian snacks displayed beside the counter. They looked absolutely tempting! Next time.
Kthxbye.
