ikan boulu tanpa tulang

went here on a sunday evening around 6pm. although the place was less crowded when we visited, the place got more customers closer to 7pm there is large variety to their menu. different types of fish (boulu, tenggiri, keli, tuna etc.), side dishes and desserts. the dish prices vary by the size of fish you get. i got myself their ikan boulu terung bakar telur set for RM18, which gets you a medium sized fish and some sides. my dish had no problem filling me up. the fish was crispy outside, juicy inside. the sambal was a bit too spicy for my taste but complements the dish well we also got a ikan tuna set. the tuna came out on the relatively dry side. their ABC special costed RM7, which i think is worth it, especially on a hot day like when i went although the place can feel a bit stuffy, all in all it's a good place to eat good food.

🐟 tempeh goreng sambal 🍳

This is my favourite restaurant to get 1. Deep fried boneless milk fish (ikan baulu tanpa tulang) 2. Fermented soybeans (tempeh) sambal 3. Grilled eggplant with egg However, when my friend bought me recently, they've changed the way of cooking tempeh sambal. They used to cut fries style & deep fried therefore it'll be crispy. Now they sliced it into bigger piece (last pic). The tempeh will get soggy after dipped into the sambal. It's delicious, still but without the crispy texture. My friend ordered himself the grilled eggplant, he added sambal & taste even better. But he loves mine with egg more. This restaurant serve varieties mix fusion of Indonesian & Sabahan delicacies. Ikan Baulu Tanpa Tulang & Ayam Penyet

This is medium size & ½ of the Ikan Baulu, with boiled kangkung & raw cucumber. Ayam Penyet (deep fried chicken thigh) served with spicy tempeh & raw cabbage. Both served with steamed white rice, spicy chilli tomato & sup kosong. Every restaurant have their own recipe of spicy chilli, and theirs are superb hot. What I love about their restaurant is their sambal tempeh. They've several branches; Manggatal, near ITCC, Pavilion Bundusan.
