Built on not-so-solid ground (bad first impressions)

I had heard about this new cafe during the pandemic. Not that I heard anything good about it, I just heard that it existed. So I thought to give them a shot. At first we tried to Grab Express our drinks - an iced latte and a hot cappucino. It was not drinkable. It was so sour and burnt that I had initially thought they dropped ash in my coffee. Rest assured they didn't, but it tasted so. Like ash and water. I thought it could be a coincidence - a series of unfortunate events leading up to my very terrible cup of coffee. But I had faith they would do right by me. Maybe the barista was still tinkering with the machine. I gave it a few days. I tried a second time - this time in person, to have a look. The warehouse high ceiling and aesthetic looked impressive. Probably the most impressive aspect of the cafe. It was January 2021, there was an ongoing private function (which I'm pretty sure was not in accordance with the KKM COVID-19 SOPs of the time), with its invitees seated in the main area of the restaurant and definitely not observing the 1 meter spacing rule. They had set up a small waiting area at the entrance of the shop, with a cashier and 3 stools. A long table wall was made to prevent us from entering any further into the restaurant. Our coffee order arrived. An iced latte and a hot cappucino. Again, both of them sour and burnt to a crisp. Absolutely undrinkable. I took two sips and tossed it. I have not been back since then, so I can't speak for the food nor of any improvements to their coffee. I also have no photos of my drinks because they were so bad I deleted them on the spot. It would take a monumental effort to drag me for a third try.
