It’s my second time visiting Gerid’s Kitchen—first in Damai, now in Kingfisher. Both offer different food choices. It’s a non-halal economic rice spot with student-friendly prices! Definitely going to be one of my go-to places during my time in KK 🫶🏻

GK has taken over the previous steamboat shop and opened its fourth branch in Damai, in the same row with Kim Fah Restaurant and Breadboss Cafe. Their menu is featuring simple illustrated pictures with affordable prices, also generous portions, with a focus on pork cooked using the 'Sinalau' method. Their signature dishes are Sinalau Wogok and Bakas (wild boar). However, these are unavailable due to the current declining population of wild boar in Sabah, leading to protective measures. The pork is 'sinalau' directly behind and outside the kitchen upon order. Nonetheless, they've their housemade red pork aka chasau. We ordered... Wat Tan Hor with chasau mix Sinalau Fried pork rice chasau served with soup of the day, pineapple slices and housemade sambal The service crew informed me that they had run out of sambal for my fried rice, so they told me to replace it with the chilli available on the table. I requested some extra pickled vegetables. Although the dishes came with a variety of colourful vegetables, I believe I had enough of carrots for the day. Haha. Both dishes are well-seasoned and have a distinct burnt taste 'wok hei'. The chasau has vibrant red colour and gravy but has a tough texture to chew. Personally speaking, their pork wasn't my liking. I couldn't finish my fried rice, so I took it home, reheated it in the microwave for dinner and share with Mr Hubby. Due to the limited number of tables inside and outside, the place quickly fills up with students and locals who live and work nearby. They accept cash and QR only. Kthxbye.

This review is regarding the Damai branch People mountain people sea during lunchtime, limited space as inside still remain the previous hotpot setting, can share the steamboat table, ada aircon ala carte very berbaloi, cheaper than economic rice. Huge portion RM11 😲 meat & mee larger than Kinamount!! Have 2 share share, 1 plate for 2 pax Pic 4 is half plate portion only, many vege But, very very salty..... For zapfan, chicken RM6 more expensive than squid RM3 , u take many u pay many, u take little u pay little, more expensive than usual zapfan. So, a la carte more berbaloi. Heavy taste, chicken & squid meat quite tough Friendly staffs Oh ya, they bbq the 🐷 at near roadside, car in car out Not sure this branch will stay how long, coz this shoplot unit ody changed few restaurants. 😂😂😂 The Lord bless you. Bye

Very interesting combo of zap fan + proper cafe coffee machine. Pork is most probably the star here, cooked in 3 to 4 different types of dishes, but Sinalau Bakas win. Meehoon soup with fish only RM10! And it tastes superb. Open sitting concept, you can share table with strangers. Self service Very very nice latte art! And there's so many doctors eat here that you don't need to worry bout sudden heart attack or something, you're in good hand🤭
