This spot serves China style noodles, and we recently visited to give them a try. The menu is simple and illustrated, though some items were unavailable.
I was told while the noodles are now made by machine due to time constraints, they still achieve a desirable texture similar to handmade noodles.
We ordered…
Dry mix noodle with mixed beef and pea 豌豆杂干拌面
Knife shaved noodle soup with beef 刀削面
Noodle with fried bean sauce 杂酱面
The noodles are thick type, white in colour and satisfyingly chewy, allowing the sauces and broths to cling well, enhancing at each bite. Yum!
The owner is originally from Hubei province, and the kitchen is run by her brother, who learned the art of noodle-making in Inner Mongolia.
I brought the fried bean sauce noodle home for my brother, and he said it was delicious, especially the mixed beef sauce. Savoury.
This spot used to be a steamboat and porridge place, but it’s now been taken over by a noodle shop. Service is a bit slow as the new staff are still in training.
Kthxbye.
