I had a colleagues’ gathering dinner here last month, and while the service and ambience were enjoyable, the food unfortunately did not live up to our expectations.
I ordered the braised lamb shank, fizzy yoghurt mojito, durian cendol and mango pomelo shaved ice, and their signature froyo with pistachio sauce.
Unfortunately, the lamb shank was sadly undercooked—so tough that it was hard to chew or bite into. I had to request taking it home and reheat again.
Plus, the gravy was nothing special, either, just the standard black pepper as base. The yoghurt mojito was fine, refreshing enough, but not memorable.
On a brighter note, the durian chendol was the star of the evening—its rich fragrance and creamy durian flesh had everyone at the table impressed.
The mango pomelo shaved ice, however, was just average at best. Nothing wow factor. As for the froyo with pistachio sauce, I was quite disappointed.
It lacked that distinctive tangy, fermented froyo taste, it came across more like a sweet creamy dessert instead. The pistachio sauce didn’t stand out either.
To add to the letdown, one of my colleagues ordered the lamb chop and complained it was rubbery and difficult to cut through—definitely a no from her.
This place nailed the shaved ice. Almost every table around us had one to share. Maybe just stick with the desserts—specifically the durian chendol.
Kthxbye.
