Western Food n Wine for the Siblings Gatering Dnnr,

Pastry Reviews: Not Overly Sweet Overall, the pastries here are not oily and have good flakiness, though they lack a strong butter fragrance. Still, a good choice for pastries. Matcha Latte: Beautifully presented, but the taste was average. Pistachio Ribbon: The filling portion was generous, but it lacked a distinct pistachio flavor, making the taste average. The crust was excellent, remaining crunchy even after several hours. Tiramisu Cromboloni: This had a generous filling, and I loved the taste. However, the crust texture was quite tough, requiring strong teeth to eat. Flan: The flan featured a rich, firm egg custard. It was quite sour, with a noticeable citrus or yougurt or thick cheese taste that wasn't to my liking. The crust was also quite tough, needing to be eaten slowly.

Dropped by Happy Place Restaurant & Bar and their April–May luncheon set did not disappoint! The Satay Roast Chicken Rice came with a generously sized roast chicken leg (definitely not the “small small” type!), served with rich, flavourful satay sauce. The side of acar mentah with raw red onions? Really raw—no dressing in sight! We also tried the Nasi Daging Palembang—the beef was tender and fragrant with spices. The unexpected highlight? Their onion rings! Crispy and definitely not the store-bought type—some big, some small, all very satisfying. Couldn’t resist the Yuzu Quiche for takeaway (yuzu fans, hehe!). The croissant-like crust filled with yuzu cream was decently flavoured, though it lacked the yuzu bits I was hoping for. The swirled top cream was just plain cream—no yuzu at all. Not quite worth the dive with that much of cream, and definitely needs a few extra laps in the pool to shed the guilt! Also tried the add-on ice cream for just RM2—guess what? Yup, more cream again...skipped then 😵 One more thing: The glass shelf listed the Yuzu Quiche at RM12, but the cashier said it was actually RM15. So folks—always check your receipt to verify any price discrepancies on the spot! Verdict: A flavourful lunch spot that still lives up to its name—just be selective, and your tummy will thank you! P/S: Their service is truly heartfelt. The moment they saw our car pulling into their lot on a rainy day, a staff member rushed out with an umbrella to escort us in. And if you can't leave your car? No worries—they’ll come right to you to take your order and payment. This thoughtful service is truly heartwarming and touching!

Happy Place is definitely a restaurant we’ll return to, especially for their RM18 Midday Luncheon menu, available weekdays from 11 AM to 3 PM. Their February & March menu is ideal for those who enjoy clean eating, featuring chicken, beef, salmon, or tofu served with a generous portion of fresh veggies and rice except Grilled Chicken Salad Set. Portion-wise? Huge! One set is more than enough for a single person—we ordered three different sets and still had leftovers to tapao for dinner! Service is outstanding—the staff’s attentiveness shone through when they promptly offered to replace a dropped fork even before we could ask. When I requested soy sauce for my sunny-side-up egg, they promptly brought a saucer—clearly, they know that for Asians, an egg without soy sauce is like toast without butter! 😆 If you prefer heavily marinated grilled chicken, this dish might not be for you, as I didn’t detect much seasoning. However, the grilled aroma was present, and we simply added soy sauce for extra flavour. No pic of the grilled chicken salad set? Oops, it was gone in a blink—starved, devoured, and only the coral leaves, chickpeas, and corn lived to tell the tale, lol! Another plus? Free takeaway packaging—unlike Shoney’s, which charges for containers. Interestingly, Happy Place and Shoney’s near Tong Hing Supermarket in KK are actually related. Their well-stocked wine selection caters to both casual drinkers and wine enthusiasts alike, featuring Neyen, Brolio 2021, and other options. And now, they’ve introduced a pastry counter! From croissant egg tarts to croissant, cromboloni and cookies, though unfortunately, we were too full to indulge this time. A place with hearty portions, thoughtful service, and tempting pastries—Happy Place truly lives up to its name! P/S: Another thoughtful touch? They provide an umbrella holder with individual locks, so diners can secure their umbrellas and avoid mix-ups—no more worrying about someone mistakenly taking yours!

Children’s favourite along with mushroom sup

Definitely value for money! Must try place for locals and tourists!

Recently tried the spaghetti bolognese and it was really good! It has a rich, savory sauce with a hint of garlic, onions, and lastly garnished with herbs and parmesan cheese, adding depth to the taste. To add on, the service was very efficient and the staffs were friendly and attentive.

Now ada serving croissant dy. Okay, so I just had a special croissant experience. Seriously, these croissants looked so perfect, like, super duper smooth and uniform on the outside, not oily at all, barely any glaze...we actually thought they were fake display ones! 😂 But nope! Real croissants. And get this – you could totally see all the distinct layers, like, perfect folds and amazing lamination. Shape, color, everything was on point. Now, it wasn't one of those crazy flaky croissants that go everywhere when you bite into it, but it wasn't doughy either. It was just right. Crispy enough, soft enough. And inside? This amazing network of airy layers. Then there was this unique yellowish-orange stuff inside. Tasted buttery and kind of chewy. The staff was like, "Oh yeah, we put that in all of them," but then totally blanked on what it was called! Mystery ingredient! And the best part? Not oily at all. Seriously, I was so surprised. It was just such a happy croissant moment. Totally unexpected!

It was a memorable evening, sharing a farewell dinner with my colleagues and bosses. For my main dish, I ordered the Seafood Aglio Olio, which was flavorful but not extraordinary. The mussels were fresh, the prawns were perfectly cooked, and the pasta was seasoned well, but the portion was disappointingly small. Even as someone who usually eats lightly, I found myself still hungry. For dessert, I had the tiramisu, which was decent but not the best I’ve had—good, but missing that extra spark. On the other hand, the sweet potato fries were an unexpected highlight for me. They were crispy, sweet, and utterly delightful, though I seemed to be the only one who appreciated them, as others found them too sweet. We shared a bottle of wine for the evening’s toast, and while it was fine, it wasn’t particularly memorable. The supposed “chill” was a letdown—it wasn’t cold enough to enjoy properly. Luckily, I paired my food with a classic cola, which ended up saving the experience for me. It was refreshing, balanced out the wine, and paired surprisingly well with the meal. The service, however, could use some improvement. While the staff was polite, one thing stood out—the waiter asked us to pass our dirty plates to them. It’s a small detail, but it felt out of place for a proper dining experience. A little more effort and attentiveness, like simply walking around the table to collect the plates, would have gone a long way in elevating the service. Overall, while the evening wasn’t perfect, it was still a special and heartfelt gathering. The atmosphere and company made up for the minor flaws, and the night served as a bittersweet reminder of the end of one chapter and the beginning of another.

Recently went to Happy Place, got their Tomato Pasta & Mac n Cheese (Kids Meal 😆), taste not bad and the environment was good.
