I’ve written countless reviews and recommendations for anyone who’s seeking for authentic Sabahan aborigines cuisine, and this is hands down the best place to start.
It’s my favorite spot, always for local aboriginal dishes—nothing compares to those flavours when served on a rustic platter and their warming turmeric soup!

Hai everyone! Korang tercari-cari makanan kampung seperti tuhau, ikan basung, ambuyat dan sebagainya tapi tidak jumpa sini area Kota Kinabalu?
I nak share satu restaurant recommend area Kota Kinabalu, di Little Sulap. Makanan semua recommend and lazat. Memang menepati citarasa dan boleh tahan juga! 8/10 hehehe. Kalau korang craving nak makan makanan tradisional, korang boleh pergi di Little Sulap, Kota Kinabalu.
Diorang sediakan set Original Sabahan, Set Ambuyat, ada kek dan banyak lagi. Environment kedai pun selesa dan bersih. Korang boleh juga ambil gambar aesthetic hehehe. Style restaurant memang macam beach view hehehe.
Menu that i've ordered :
- Original Sabahan ( RM20)
- Ambuyat (RM15)
- Sulap Chicken Wing (RM18)
Harga semua makanan boleh dikatakan berbaloi dengan rasa.

My friend returned from USA & she's eager to try authentic local aboriginal cuisines. So, I bring her here to satisfy her cravings.
We ordered Original Sabahan (side dishes & basungan fish could be vary in size due to availability), Hinava & Sup Pinasakan.
We'd a great night. They just released new comfort menu today; chicken rice, kon lo noodle & meatball soup.
They accept cash & boost only for payments. Limited parking at Lorong Dewan & depends on luck.

The ambience at this little shop just at corner of Australia lane is marvellous as it is cool and shady with entertaining local music. Plus the authentic kasazandusun food like hinava, ambuyat, kelupis and much more with small servings served alongside the rice sets is very attractive. Love the rice sets and the large portions. Only problem is the inability to get parking without having to park and walk quiiet a distance.

CNY gathering with friends who back from overseas, I bought them to try Sabah aborigine cuisine, & butod, of course!
Due to their limited space, I make reservation via WhatsApp in order to avoid disappointment.
Here's what we ordered:
1. Original Sabahan
Linopot (means packing in Dusun) served with Bambangan (wild mango), Tuhau (wild ginger), deep fried basung fish, stir fried pumpkin, salted fish with big onions, lembiding (BEST vege of the day), sambal, 1/2 salted egg, cucumber slices & served with a bowl of hot turmeric tamarind soup.
2. Butod (1 live & 2 deep fried)
In my precious post at Little Sulap, I've tried deep fried version.
This time, I tried live butod. Initially, I'm struggled to pick up the butod because it kept try to bite my finger.
Then I picked up using tissue wrapped around it's head & bit it's body off.
The live butod taste 'nature' & no foul taste. Personally, I prefer deep fried version.
3. Pinasakan Basungan
Soup taste heavy of tarmarind, taste no 'takob akob'. It's can be improve but still okay.
They're available in GrabFood & FoodPanda. They accept cash & Boost for payment.

Authentic Sabahan food located at Jalan Dewan! The highlight of the dinner has got to be “butod” 😳😳😳😳😳😳 🐛 🐛 Any butod(sago worm) fans here? Apparently it’s rich in protein 😏😏😏
Don’t miss out their “original Sabahan” 🍱 which consists of varieties of local specialties ie bambangan(wild mango)/ local vege/ikan basung 🤤 Dont to forget their fried chicken wings 🍗 and Hinava (fish with lime juice) 🐠 soo good!!

Wei little sulap not little HAHAHH big portions and all tgt only rm 30+ 🥵❤️
-BIG PORTION we ordered 3 food , their rice set , meatballs , and sago? I think ?
- we couldn't finish it HAHAHAHA , 2 peops come in for breakfast and couldn't finish HAHAHAH
-THE FRIED CHICKEN SO GOOD SRS I was expecting some dry ass chicken but it was juicy and flavoured 😩
- Surprisingly fries and jam 10/10 HAHAHA
- MEATBALL SO GOOD SRS , dk if it's the sos or is it the seasoned meatball but I will come back for them 😌
- only downside is that the shop so dark and a bit lot of mosquito and a bit hot inside too
- I didn't eat much of the sago thing , aldy full on the meatballs , but my friend like it a lot , its so big she only ate half the bowl
*idk my friend prank me or not but she say is eat with soup , got eat before de frens tell me which is the right way 😩*

Many thanks to @HumanBurrito.bki @xindy-voo @kenji_chia. Finally found this type of food I've been craving for such a long time but don't know where to find it. Very tasty food. Price is a bit high.
Had their original sabahan came with crispy deep fried fish, brown rice, 5 side dishes, soup and sauce. Everything taste sooo sadapp except the tuhau. I requested to change it to another side dish but couldn't. I just don't like the taste of tuhau I'm so sorry😆 It taste like you eating '臭屁虫‘ .
Oh yaa didnt get a chance to try out butot too as it was out of stock. Will definitely come back for their original sabahan again. Can see the menu in pic 6 and 7 📋

Brought my geng mkn to try the butod, anyhow it left the last one so I gave my brother to try. The staff told me an African guy ate 6 by himself the day before.
Butod is seasonal thus it's suggestible to make reservation firsthand via WhatsApp to avoid disappointment upon arrive.

Deep fried battered milkfish
I've been eating deep fried milkfish at different restaurant, yet theirs are the perfect define of crispy to perfection. Served with their turmeric chilli lime soup, chilli sambal & steamed purple brown rice, excellent!
Original Sabahan set meal
It's terrific, always! Bambangan (wild mango) still out of stocks, so they replaced with pumpkins.
Oh my balls!
Meatballs with gravy & sweet sauce, it fall apart when I picked up using forks but it's okay, the gravy is delicious.
Soda
Carbonated soda with coloured syrup. It's their new menu & under promotion currently. Good for quench thirst especially craving for iced cold beverages in hot weather.
Fried rice gaman with deep fried panko chicken cutlet
Fried rice is pleasant, however the mid part of the chicken is raw. I informed the staff & owner, they apologies & refund the meal.
Despite simple & cozy restaurant ambient, I enjoyed their polite, helpful & attentive services which is why I keen on return whenever I'm craving.
